More on Beyonce and Jay Z’s impending rumoured divorce

Despite sharing this pic of her nail art with her husband’s initial on it (pictured left), NY Post is still insisting that Beyonce and Jay Z are separating soon and we should expect a divorce announcement anytime now as lawyers have been called…

Jay Z, Beyoncé, concert promoter Live Nation, HBO – and no less than four lawyers have attended an emergency meeting Thursday to address the couple’s rapidly imploding marriage, The Post has learned.

But while execs at the Thursday session wanted to put out a statement, Jay Z and Beyoncé declined – because they couldn’t agree on what it would say.

Now officials fret that the couple’s $100 million On the Run Tour might be canceled before its scheduled finale.

“This may not make it to San Francisco,” a source said. “I’m definitely not sure that they’ll make it to Paris.”

It’s gotten so bad that the couple are living separate lives even on the tour. “They’re not just staying in different hotel rooms, but they have booked separate hotels, and they arrive separately to each show,” the insider said. Time will tell.

A 35-year-old man, Yinka Offehin, is battling for his life at a private hospital in Lagos State after his scrotum was cut by the children of his landlady.

The Edo State indigene, who resides on Popoola Street, off Abaranje Road in the Ikotun area of Lagos, was said to have been attacked while sleeping in his room with his family members.

His wife, Bisi, who was with him when the incident happened, identified the assailants as Solomon and Damilola, the children of the landlady.

She said, “On Thursday morning, around 3am, while we were sleeping, we heard loud bangs on our door. We initially thought they were armed robbers because the house beside ours had recently been robbed.“When they entered, we saw they were children of our landlady. They began destroying our electronics and other property.
“There were two of them. One held a knife in his hand. They took N800, 000. They descended on my husband and he also fought back. In that confusion, my husband shouted and we saw that one of the attackers had cut Yinka’s scrotum. I can’t say what they used to cut off my husband’s scrotum.”
She added that her husband, though in pain, was able to hold on to one of his attackers till dawn, while the other fled the scene.

Bisi said her husband could not be admitted at a general hospital because of the ongoing doctors’ strike, but was eventually taken to a private hospital in the area.

When our correspondent visited the victim at the hospital, he told Punch the genesis of his problem was when he had a misunderstanding with his landlady and was asked to vacate his apartment.

“I was asked to leave the house immediately, but after the intervention of the traditional ruler of the community, I was asked to leave by the end of August. But that decision did not go down well with the children of my landlady and they continued to make trouble with me.I was already planning to leave their house and had even contacted an agent when they attacked me without any provocation. I want the government to fight for me,”

19 year old boy kills his own 4year old brother in Oyo state

Posted by 9jasouth on 08/03/2014

19 year old Rilwan Ahmed (pictured above) did the most unthinkable thing, he killed his own brother. According to a report by Tribune, Rilwan took his 4 year old half-brother Waris Ahmed to an uncompleted building close to their residence at Oloko village in Ibadan, Oyo State, tied a piece of cloth across his face, making it difficult for him to breathe, then tied his legs, and left him there. Life slowly ebbed out of him as he struggled to breathe. His body was discovered there 3 days later. Read the full after the cut

This above scenario was what was painted by a murder suspect, Rilwan Ahmed, when he was discovered to be responsible for his half-brother, Waris’s death.

On Saturday, July 19, 2014, Waris’s father, Mr Lateef Lawal, who is stepfather to Rilwan reported at Ojoo Police Division of Oyo State Police Command that his four-year-old son was missing. The entire Oloko village also joined Lawal’s family in a search for the missing boy, Rilwan inclusive, until he made a statement that raised people’s suspicion. He advised that nearby bush should be cut, giving a high probability that the missing boy would be found.

With this serving as a lead, detectives at Ojoo Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, Musiliu Doga, interrogated the boy, leading to his startling confession that he was responsible for the death of the missing boy.

Not a few people wondered why the Rilwan who had been staying with his stepfather since he was young, could do that to his own blood, but Rilwan said he could not say precisely the kind of spirit that controlled his action.

The suspect told Crime Reports that he left school after Primary Six and had been working as a labourer with bricklayers. He also disclosed that he refused to learn any vocation and always ran away from vocational centres he was taken to. Things were not different when he was taken to Qur’anic school.

Speaking with Crime Reports, the 19-year-old boy said: “I live with my mother and stepfather. She gave birth to two of us before my father died and she remarried. She also gave birth to six other children for my stepfather. I don’t know what pushed me into what I did to my stepbrother. It was as if I was being propelled by unknown forces. On the fateful day, I asked him to follow me to the undeveloped plots by our residence. When we got to one of the uncompleted buildings there, I placed a piece of cloth on his face covering his eyes, mouth and nose. I also tied his legs. He did not shout so I left him there.

“When I got back home, my mother asked of Waris and I told her to check him outside. When she could not find him, I joined in the search for the young boy. When my stepfather went to the police to report, I remembered that I took someone to a place. I went back to the uncompleted building to bring my half-brother home, but met him dead.

“I quickly threw him into a nearby bush and went back home, afraid of how to break the news to my mother. At a point, I told the people around that if they wanted us to find the missing boy, they should let us cut the bush at the back of our residence. This aroused my stepfather’s suspicion and he went to report my statement to the police. It was when the police were interrogating me that I confessed to my deeds.

“I took detectives to the bush where I dumped my half-brother’s remains.”

Based on information gathered by Crime Reports that the suspect was angry with his mother for not returning N700 he kept with her, he was asked whether the anger propelled his action but he replied in the negative.
“No. I did not keep the money with her, I kept it in my bag and she went to take it. I told her it was my money made from my labouring job but she said the money was not mine, and that she was not going to give it back to me. I was angry with her and said to myself that I would not release her son to her if my money was not returned to me.
“But that was not actually what I had in mind when I took my brother away. My mother did not offend me, neither my half-brother. My stepfather and mother were taking good care of me. I can’t really place what made me commit the act.”

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, Olabisi Okuwobi-Ilobanafor confirmed the story, describing the murder of the little boy as unfortunate. She also said that the law would take its course as the boy would be charged to court after investigations.

First Drake and Chris Brown performance gets cancelled

Chris Brown & his former rival Drake were supposed to perform together for the first time at Drake’s OVO Music Festival in Toronto, Canada tomorrow August 4th but it got shut down because of Chris’ felony record.

TMZ reports

Chris Brown and Drake planned to unveil their new song Monday in Toronto, but the plan was scrapped because Chris can’t get in to the country… TMZ has learned. We’re told Drake invited Chris to join him Monday night on stage at his OVO Fest. We’re told Chris agreed and the plan was for them to perform the song on which they collaborated last month.

The performance would have been big for 2 reasons — it’s the first time they performed together, and we’re told there are veiled references to Rihanna in the song. Continue…

Now the snag.  We’re told Chris’ people pulled the plug, because they realized Chris could never get passage into Canada.  The country has close to a zero tolerance policy when it comes to letting criminals in … and Chris has not only been convicted of a crime … he’s copped to a violent felony.

We’re told his people broke the news to Chris … any attempt to make the concert would be futile.

Another Suspected Case of Ebola Virus in Nigeria

Barely seven days after Mr. Patrick Sawyer, a Liberian, died in a private hospital in Lagos, one of the personnel, who helped him out of the aircraft on his arrival in Lagos, has shown signs of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).
The latest victim, who was said to have helped the late Sawyer, but has not yet been named, was among the 59 persons the Federal Government and the Lagos State Government registered to have had contact with the late Sawyer immediately on his arrival in Nigeria on Sunday, July 20.
Early symptoms of EVD include fever, headache, chills, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, sore throat, headache and joint pains, while later symptoms include bleeding from the eyes, ears nose, and the mouth as well as the rectum, eye swelling, swelling of the genitals and rashes all over the body that often contain blood. It could progress to coma, shock and death.
As at four days after Sawyer’s death in Nigeria, precisely, Monday, July 27, the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, said 20 of the 59 people registered to have had contact with Sawyer had been physically screened. He said 50 per cent of these 20 people had type one contact with Sawyer and 50 per cent had type two contact.
Explaining this terminology, the Director, Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr. Abdulsalam Nasidi, said type one contact means those who had direct one-on-one contact with the late Sawyer, while type two contact refers to those that had contact with those who had direct contact with Sawyer.
However, he said the committee working on the Ebola virus disease emergency was following the World Health Organisation (WHO) guideline which recommended that only persons who showed signs of the EVD symptoms should be screened.
Efforts to get confirmation about the latest on the person showing signs of the EVD from Nasidi failed. A text message to his phone asking for confirmation was not responded to.
…No fresh case in Lagos – LASG
Lagos State Government yesterday, said no fresh case of the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease has been found in the state or any part of the country.
According to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Health, Dr. (Mrs.) Yewande Adeshina, none of the persons said to have come in contact with the late Liberian victim of the Ebola Virus Disease had manifested unusual body temperature or any other symptom of the dreaded virus.
She explained that all the 59 persons, who had close contact with the deceased Liberian in Nigeria were hale and hearty and had not exhibited any unusual symptoms, just as there had been no case of the dreaded disease from the country’s borders.
Also, the Commissioner for Information, Lateef Ibirogba, has advised the citizenry to be wary of the activities of fraudsters, who were making spurious claims about their ability to provide cure for the Ebola Virus Disease, urging them to always contact health providers to report unusual feelings noticed.
He cautioned people to desist from sending panicky text messages round about the Ebola disease that could heighten tension and create anxiety.
He also advised those who wanted to make cheap money from the case to desist from their strange claims of cure for the disease or risk the wrath of the law, as only medical solutions were known to be appropriate for the disease.
He reminded residents of the state to make use of the emergency phone numbers- 08023169485, 08033086660, 08033065303, 08055281442 and 08055329229 provided to contact health authorities in case anyone with observed symptoms of the Ebola disease was noticed.
He also advised residents to observe the highest level of personal environmental hygiene, adding that they should visit hospitals or primary health centres nearest to them to report strange feelings noticed.

Dear readers: I’m supoosed to marry in Oct. but another woman is pregnant for my man

From a female LIB reader

I have fixed my wedding for October here in the UK but I just found out that another lady is pregnant for my fiance back home in Nigeria. She’s six months pregnant, due to give birth in October, same month I am getting married. To say that I am devastated is putting it mildly. I am so hurt that I’ve shut myself from the outside world. I am now so confused as to what to do. He has been begging me since I found out not to cancel the wedding. The pregnant lady actually contacted me via Facebook to tell me she’s having my man’s baby and when I confronted him, he didn’t deny it. I have been with this man for three and a half years and all my family and friends have contributed one way or another to this wedding. The invitations haven’t gone out yet, but all our people know the wedding is for October. I am so confused. Should I cancel the wedding? My female friends are telling me not to but surprisingly, my mum wants me to. What should I do?

Chibok girls fingered as suicide bombers

Posted by 9jasouth on 08/03/2014

There have been an increase in female suicide attacks and a source who spoke with Vanguard thinks the female suicide bombers may be captured Chibok girls. The unnamed source said he believes that the girls may have been exposed to radicalization by their captors.

The source spoke about the possibility that the girls had been indoctrinated by the terrorists in the last three months of their captivity, hypnotized and sent into various parts of Nigeria and beyond with a view to carrying out deadly missions.

The source, who has contacts with the Boko Haram leadership, pointed out that it may be difficult to change radical orientation of the girls, who may now see their malevolent disposition as an act of righteousness.

“It may shock you to know that some of the girls being used for suicide bombings in parts of the North are among those taken from Chibok in April this year. It was clear from the outset that the girls would not come out the same, after being kept with their unwanted hosts for a long time”.

The Coordinator of the National Information Centre, Mr. Mike Omeri, has since said that the Chibok girls are not among the female bombers. But how do they know this for sure…?

Bombers attack Kano poly, Potiskum mosque, kill 16

Posted by 9jasouth on 08/03/2014
Posted in: GIST. Leave a comment

Another female suicide bomber struck at the Kano Polytechnic on Wednesday, killing two people.

There was however conflicting figures by government agencies on the number of those injured by the bomber who also died in the process.

While the state police command put the injured at six, the National Information Centre said 13.

Before news of the incident which occurred at about 2.30pm on Wednesday, there were reports that   Boko Haram insurgents killed 13 people in a   mosque and market in Potiskum,   Yobe State.

The fresh Kano bombing led to a stampede among members of staff of the institution and final year students who were going through a list of successful graduates mobilised for the Batch B of the National Youth Service Corps.

Eyewitness accounts indicated that the suicide bomber was carrying an Improvised Explosive Device hidden under her dress.

Security agents   cordoned off the scene of the incident as officers of the Police Bomb Disposal Unit began investigations.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adelenre Shinaba,   said, “The teenage female suicide bomber sneaked into the crowd and detonated the IED which she concealed .”

Shinaba, who said   the charred remains of the   bomber had been deposited at a morgue,   enjoined residents of the state to be extra vigilant and to report suspicious movements to security agents.

The British Broadcasting Corporation however reported that the explosion occurred as students queued to check their names on a new admission list .

Although it did not give the casualty figure, it quoted witnesses as saying that bodies lay strewn at the blast site.

The BBC also quoted Reuters news agency as putting the death toll at six.

In Abuja, the Chairman of NIC, Mr. Mike Omeri, who also put the death toll at two,   disclosed at a news conference   that   a 10-year old girl strapped with explosives was among three suspected terrorists arrested in Katsina on Tuesday night.

Omeri said, “This afternoon (Tuesday), another female suicide bomber exploded an IED at the Kano State Polytechnic where some final year students who had completed their work had gone to collect their call-up letters for the National Youth Service.

“So far, three persons have been reported killed. Thirteen others are reported to have sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

“Investigations are ongoing to determine the forces behind it and also to ascertain the final number that may have been involved in this dastardly act.’’

Omeri, who also dismissed insinuations that   Boko Haram   may have started using the abducted Chibok girls as suicide bombers, gave the name of the 10-year-old girl arrested in Katsina as Hadiza Musa.

He said, “The second thing is the arrest of three Boko Haram suspects in Katsina. Security forces on Tuesday July 29 at about 10pm along Zaria Road, Tudun Wada of Funtua Metropolis arrested three suspects believed to be members of Boko Haram.

“The three suspects are   Iliya Haliru,   Zainab Musa (18) and Hadiza Musa (10 ) . The three suspects were arrested in a Honda CRV.

“When they were directed to disembark for security check,   Hadiza was discovered to have been strapped with an explosive belt.

“Immediately, Iliya and Zainab made attempt to escape with the car but were   blocked by other concerned Nigerians and subsequently arrested. The police successfully unstrapped the explosive.

He lamented that “some parents are also into this (terrorism) that they are willing to take their children as young as 10 years into act of cowardice and self-destruct.”

Omeri called on “parents who want their children to be taught quaranic education to go to formal schools established for the purpose instead of subjecting them to strangers whose story or history they don’t know about.”

Force Public Relations Officer,   Frank Mba, also threw light on why terrorists now use young girls for terrorism.

He added that more female security officers would be deployed in frisking women and girls.

Mba said, “If you have been following the trend of terrorism worldwide, you will understand that the use of female suicide bombers is not totally new, though it is a new trend in our own part of the world.

“The reason why established international terror organisations in the world go for female suicide bombers is clear. The major reason is because women generally raise less suspicion, particularly when there are security layers, and so they take advantage of the fact that women raise less suspicion to indoctrinate and recruit female suicide bombers.

Kano has been under a series of attacks by female suicide bombers since Sunday.

13 killed, scores injured in Potiskum

One of our correspondents gathered   from Potiskum residents that insurgents, arrived in unmarked vehicles, threw   IEDs at the   Shakafa mosque and the   market square around 7.30pm on Tuesday.

A resident, Hudu Ibrahim, said that some of his injured kinsmen were   “ taken to hospitals in seven Hilux patrol vehicles by the military and police.”

He added, “We were shocked that the mosque was bombed by   Boko Haram suspects. Immediately our Imam completed the reading the Holy Quran, we were about to continue with our prayers, when we suddenly heard a blast that shook the entire building, leaving five people dead.

“Many of our fellow Muslims   also had broken limbs while others lost their arms. ”

Another resident, Isa Ahmadu,   said that a suicide bomber that detonated the explosives pretended as if he was performing his ablution.

The Yobe State Police Commissioner, Markus Danladi, also confirmed that over a dozen people were feared dead in the attacks.

Governor Ibrahim Gaidam, who is currently performing the Umrah (Lesser Hajj) in Saudi Arabia said he was deeply shocked and outraged by the incidents.

The governor, in a statement by his spokesman, Mallam Abdullahi Bego, described the attacks as “senseless, heinous and barbaric and totally unjustifiable.”

Gaidam   directed that free medical treatment be provided for all the injured until they were discharged from hospitals.

FG to raise $500m for terror victims

Meanwhile, President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday said he hoped to raise about $500m over a 12-month period for the Victims Support Fund.

The fund, which will   be administered by a committee headed by Lt.Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retd.), is meant to provide relief and succour for all those who have been adversely affected by terrorism and insurgency in the country.

The first   dinner aimed at raising the money is billed for the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Thursday (today).

Jonathan said he expected members of the private sector and friends of the country in the international community to donate generously to the fund.

A statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, quoted the President as speaking at separate audiences with the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Mr. Kamalesh Sharma, and the Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund, Prof. Babatunde Osotimehin, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He said the fund would be used to further alleviate the sufferings and deprivations imposed on Nigerians living in states worst affected by terror attacks.

The President, who reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to doing all within its powers to help victims of insurgency and terrorism rebuild their lives and communities, said that the fund, which will be managed by a non-governmental organisation, will also be deployed in support of the rebuilding of destroyed schools and the creation of a safer environment for education in affected states.

Welcoming the pledges of support from the Commonwealth and UNFPA,   the President said his administration appreciated the solidarity of the international community as it grapples with the challenging task of overcoming the twin scourges of terrorism and insurgency.

“We continue to work very hard to deal with the problem. It is a major challenge and we welcome all the assistance we can get,” Jonathan was quoted as saying.

He also assured Sharma that Nigeria remained fully committed to the goals of the Commonwealth and would continue to support all efforts to reform and strengthen the organisation for the benefit of member-countries and their people.

Sharma had told the President that he was in Abuja to express the Commonwealth’s full solidarity with Nigeria as it contends with the very difficult task of overcoming insurgency and terrorism, and to also explore ways in which the Commonwealth could assist Nigeria in that regard.
