Wizkid refused to confirm he is in a relationship in an interview with Nation Newspapers… He also talked about Starboy, Chris Brown, Skales & More.
Excerpts from the interview
On his relationship;
Wizkid is just a star boy, having fun and mingling things (laughs).
Asked if he will work with Skales again…
Of course I will. He was actually in my house a couple of weeks ago. He brought a track to my house for us to work on. Do definitely; definitely I would always work with Skales.
You just released your last album with E.M.E and a lot of reviews have rated it low. Tell us, was it intentional?
Let’s take a look at it, off that album right; I have hit singles that I already put out. If I didn’t want to make an album that will actually cut across to people to enjoy, I would not put in those songs. I had Jaiye Jaiye, On Top Your Matter, Bombay, Show You The Money, Joy and I added more songs. And I’m shooting new video pretty much for all the songs in the album.
What did it take to build the Wizkid brand?
Building the Wizkid brand pretty much took me all my life because before I went into making music, I had the picture of what I wanted to be in my head. I had a concept of how I would love the journey or my journey to be into the music industry to be like. So I definitely knew I wanted to build a brand, not just a name. A brand people would want to affiliate with and I work endlessly, day and night to make sure the brand Wizkid is here even when I’m not here.
Even when I leave, I want to live a legacy that people will follow. And I’m not just building Wizkid as a brand alone. I’m also building Star Boy for every young artiste out there, every young producer out there. I want to create a platform for them to push out their music. We just started in like a year now; and already my boys are getting nominations as well as producing for all the top acts in Nigeria. It’s a great feeling. I just feel really blessed.
Why do people think Wizkid is arrogant. And does it bother you?
It really does not bother me. But to be honest, I don’t even hear that because every time I go out, I get love from my fans. I show them love. And I do my thing. As I said, not everyone is going to like you. I don’t have any problem with that because I don’t like everybody. I’m going to be very honest with you; it’s not everybody that I like.
So I don’t expect everybody to like me. I make mistake like every normal human being. I’m very normal. I’m a young boy, I’m growing. It’s not that I know everything. I’m bound to trip and fall. I’m bound to learn from them. So I’m just growing, men.
Expecting any child soon?
Expecting ke?
No wedding on your card?
There is nothing like that.
You talked about doing a song with Chris Brown, when is it dropping? And did you pay for it?
Yeah, yeah I have a song with Chris Brown. Done actually; we are shooting the video in about two or three weeks. It’s going to drop early next year. Did I pay to do it? No, no payment at all. I don’t pay anyone for collaborations men. I’ve never paid for collaboration because I’m confident of the type of music that I make.
What’s your five years’ plan for Star Boy?
Yeah, we are working on the first Star Boy album now. We are shooting a video for all the songs. I’m pretty much trying to create a platform and just help as many talents as I can. Just put a lot of young people on. There are a lot of talented young people in this country but the platform is not there for everyone. So I’m going to try in my own little way to help.

Over the weekend, Linda Ikeji was accused by a number of people of constantly plagiarizing and lifting articles from websites without giving credit to original sources.
As a result, the blog was shut down yesterday.
The action has since sparked lots of controversies as many of her fans took to the various social media pages to lament and blame ‘witches’ and ‘haters’ for the tragedy.
Clearing the air on the misconception, Google’s Manager for Communications and Public Affairs, Anglo-Phone West Africa, Taiwo Kolade-Ogunlade, in a chat with Punch newspaper, explained why the blog was taken down.
He said Google takes the issue of copyright seriously, adding that the company belongs to a group of Internet firms that abides by the provisions of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and other applicable copyright laws.
“To respect the rights of copyright holders, Google clearly spells out how users of its products and services can get permission to use someone else’s intellectual property such as text, songs, images and footages. Google is no respecter of anybody when it comes to the issues of copyright infringement.
“Google as an organisation takes issues of copyright seriously and belongs to a group of digital companies that respect copyrights.
“Copyright is a big deal and this is why you can’t just go and pick up another person’s intellectual property or content and lay claim to its ownership.
“It is not a case of witch-hunting and has nothing to do with Linda Ikeji’s personality or anyone else because there is a process, and irrespective of who you are in the world, that process would apply to you.
“It has become imperative for online entrepreneurs to respect the rights of copyright holders noting that the Internet community should be built on mutual trust and general respect.
“Let’s respect other people’s rights and intellectual property. Making money off other people’s content without permission is wrong. Although the Internet is inanimate, it is the content on it that gives it life. These are the issues.
“Whenever owners of online contents come after you accusing you of using their content, it is because they have families to feed and businesses to sustain.
“People should also understand that copyrights does not only apply to text, but also extends to literary works, images and photographs, music files and MP3s, movies, movie trailers and videos as well as software”, Kolade-Ogunlade explained.
Prophet Samuel Olawale of “the Holy Michael Church of The Lord (Aladura) Cherubim and Seraphim along the Ikotun/Ejigbo area of Lagos state, known for sleeping in a coffin has opened up on why he makes sleeping in a grave and coffin a habit.
It is widely held that the acclaimed prophet does not only sleep in the grave but equally goes out with an empty coffin when evangelizing.
“Yes, it is true that I have a coffin covered with a black cloth in the church, it is in a big van. Not only this, I have a big hole dug by the altar. You can go and see it, take the picture. But for the grave or the hole, it is by the altar. And next time, I will open it for you while I am there. The two strange objects are pregnant with meanings. I have reasons why I am keeping them there.” He told The Nation.
He further said “Yes, it is true that I am carrying the coffin about while preaching and what I am trying to point out is that, no matter how wealthy you are, you will not leave this world with these money. It all ends here. You will not go into the grave with your wealth or with money, be you a civil servant who steals money, be you an armed robber, be you a landlord or a caretaker, your money and wealth ends here the moment you are dead.”
“Any time I go out, I would at times sleep in the coffin, telling everybody that, that is how we will end. Yes, we should remember this. If you are buried with expensive coffin, clothes and jewelleries, all will be stolen from you in a night and your carcass will be left. To me, life has no meaning until we come to God. Things are going wrong in this world and we should mend our ways. Yes, I even sleep there (in the coffin and the grave) at times too. To let us know that we will all end up in the grave!” He concluded.
